Let’s get to know each other!
Who am I?
I am a huge ambivert and have the identities of both an ‘introvert’ and an ‘extrovert’. While it may not make sense to a lot of people, what I mean is that for most of the day, I love being alone and I prefer solitude over random noise. I spend most of the time reading, researching, and now sometimes writing -which you can find on my Instagram under my long posts.
But I have realized that I also thrive around other people and love having genuine conversations. It’s true that if there are too many people, I would just be in the corner but if I am familiar with other people around me and the space I am in, I let myself be ME – which to be honest is a big thing. I have come far.
Going out to eat is one of my favorite things to do, especially if I am sharing that moment with a friend or family. Not for the food part – that I can make at home too, but mostly for the experience and the social aspect of it. Joining together with people you care about – telling them stories, cracking stupid jokes, and sharing about lives whilst sharing food and drinks – is the level of bonding I truly yearn for. But it’s not a day or every week thing for me.
I prefer quality over quantity!
I am a super optimistic person
It’s both a blessing and a curse. But I am glad that I am more of a half-glass-full kind of a person rather than someone who can’t see things for what they are. It’s surely about the perception of things and I am thankful for being a hard-wired optimist.
I have realized that nothing can shake me unless I overthink it and let it rattle me up! But even then, I’d find a positive reason to make it work for me somehow.
I give people the benefit of the doubt. I see the good in people more than the bad – even when all they do is shit on me. (Of ofcourse, not literally, but I hope you get what I mean!). I have the perspective of what evil and poverty look like because I have tasted both growing up. Oopsie. That’s a big and fat secret I just let out about myself.
Anyway. This is why I choose to be grateful. I choose to see things differently because everyone else sees the opposite. That’s what’s common among people and I choose to be different.
I believe that whatever’s happened in my life up until now was because of the decisions I have made and if I want better, I want to do better. Every. Single. Day. And a little bit extra after that!
In recent times, I have realized that I can’t stand and deal with negativity and negative people. I see that as a choice people make. And then they complain about how things aren’t working for them.
Now at this point, it’s apparent why they are stuck in a rut and never get out of the hole they keep digging deeper and deeper for themselves.
I still hope that one day, they will take a magic blue pill and get out of this mindset.
Why did I start coaching?
Sometimes I think to myself what’s my life’s purpose and why I am here. After reflecting on my personal experiences and the shit I have been through, I have realized that it’s really to serve others. I know it sounds cliché and maybe it is for most people, but I have realized that it is because not everyone has the same grit and motivation as me, which is okay, but when I see them struggling in their life, I want to help them. And trust me or not, but more than anything else, I want to leave the world a better place than I found it. I also want to be the person for others that I never had growing up! – yes, that’s also true about me. Too much positivity? Well yeah. That’s why my friends call me “walking talking positivity”.
It may sound altruistic and it may sound cheesy, but it makes me feel better when helping others. Also because when I was pursuing my health and fitness goals, I would wish I had someone like me to guide and help me through. But there was none!
Since then I made it my goal to help other people, especially through what I know about health, fitness and nutrition, and general, and then by teaching about self-development, motivation, and inspiring them to be the better version of themselves.
So when I see that someone’s life has gotten better or they have achieved some goals that they had always wanted, it gives me joy. It encourages me to do more and help more.
I have also made it my sense of personal responsibility to share what I know and live up to my potential. I know I am here for something much much bigger than me and this is just the beginning of a great start.
How did I get into fitness?
I think I was 14 years old when I started lifting weights & got into fitness. I used to get bullied in school & was sexually harassed by someone close to me, so I found a way to channel my anger more constructively, to improve myself & my self-confidence. Soon it turned out to be something that I just naturally became so passionate about.
I made a lot of mistakes when I first started because I didn’t have anyone to guide me through it so when I had the opportunity at my university, I started training the students, faculty, & staff members & just started sharing my wisdom with them.
It wasn’t until 2017 when I was diagnosed with cancer that I started coaching people professionally. I was put on bed rest for a while & that’s when I realized that despite having been able to study Computer Sciences & Communication and Design at Habib University, it wasn’t something I wanted to pursue anymore. I wanted to understand what happened to me, whether it was the food, environment, or stress-related factors that caused cancer & so I decided to study health and nutrition sciences & then went on to later become a certified fitness trainer & nutrition professional.
I’ve followed a lot of fad trends & diets just to achieve my dream physique. I’ve been there and done that but I don’t care about looks as much anymore. Fitness for me is not about restrictions or barriers. It’s about enjoying the process of getting healthier & acquainting myself with the different facets of who I am & exploring what I am capable of doing.
Above is my post-cancer treatment picture & then my transformation after a few months. It’s in no way to suggest that that’s the measure of a healthy lifestyle – but it’s just to show you that I’ve come such a long way & have dealt with so many obstacles to get where I am today.
Why Taha Ahmed Fitness?
Aim!
Taha Ahmed Fitness aims to provide everyone with the opportunity to lead happier, healthier lives by guiding and educating clients on nutrition, fitness, and mental wellness. I believe that isolating one of these three factors leaves the others neglected; and to better ourselves in meaningful, permanent ways, we need to accept ourselves wholly rather than in pieces. Becoming “healthy” is a lifestyle, so fixing one aspect of yourself will not do.
I also aim to provide our services in person and we are looking to start a holistic fitness and wellness center in the coming years.
Philosophy behind Taha Ahmed Fitness
When I say “holistic”, I mean to look at the human form as one whole rather than separate parts. You won’t be able to perform during your workout if you are not getting proper nutrition, and you won’t have proper nutrition if you’re too stressed to plan what you eat!
Sometimes, figuring out what is bothering you or inhibiting your progress is tough to figure out, and other times, there’s so much there is so much blocking your progress that you become overwhelmed by it and give up.
That’s where Taha Ahmed Fitness comes in, to give you the action plan you need to execute your goals with as less friction as possible and achieve the results that you’ve been wanting for years.
Certifications/Credentials
I am a certified nutrition coach from ISSA. I have studied the PN1 coursebooks, did a sports nutritionist course from ACE, and have also been a part of the MNU Mentoring Lab and LTB.
After educating myself on the complexities of nutrition, I don’t have a single approach for any client because I recognize everyone has different goals, needs, and preferences, and some people have limited access to lead a healthier lifestyle, so I treat everyone differently and take a more holistic approach to health and fitness.
I do that after a thorough assessment of their current fitness and nutrition levels and their understanding of them and then I design a personalized and tailored training and nutrition program for them to help them reach their goals. It often needs education around training, nutrition, and mindset to help them understand what they are currently doing and what they will have to do to get to their fitness goals.
Together we come up with a plan that my clients think they can adhere to long-term and are sustainable for them.
The results I have achieved working with my clients will shed more light on my approach.
Experience the Extraordinary Coaching
If you are looking for evidence-based and quality fitness and nutrition coaching services then this is your place. My approach is diverse and far more different than traditional training methods. I don’t hand you the weights on your first day. I assess your profile thoroughly and based on your past training experience and dietary intake, I carefully design your program to cater to those needs and to help you achieve your goals.
My approach is that fitness goes way beyond what you do in the gym. I combine the best practices regarding mind, body, and nutrition and apply them to everyday life in functional and creative ways.
